Player Performance

When creating this set i was changeled with the idea of doing  a performance, and as the piece was al about exsposing the intermit i thought it was important for me to wear the piece whilst spreading cards with inforamtion on about my personal relationship, exsposing myself!!

Player

When considering stich and the feminine i thought about exploring other femine clothing and i thought of bras!
I have created a set bra and knickers titled player. i stiched on words pharses and collected information about peoples personal relationshiips, things that they do as couples that they think no one else does. i wanted to bring the intermit into the open. The reason i used playing cards is because of the conitation with women exposed pubicly in underwear is that they are slags hookers or players!
The cards also have a hidden self intermat relationship, when i was little on holiday as a family we played cards rigerously! every night on holiday before bed thats what we would do.

Exsposing the intermit...

Aswel as wearing the garment to add a sence of self i have also photographed it on a minican with one of the matching knickers i have created,

Love, Lovers, Loved

The images on the last post shpwed a turning point in my work. The textiles is flat it hasnt got any form, this is one of the reasons i started re adressing my work and thought about how to make it more 3D and relate the the female conitation of the textiles. i wanted to start truely appricating the notion of textiles. This is when i created Love, lovers, Loved.

it is a visual list of all the men in my live. the different colours are in refrence to war hero merit badges RED BLUE and GOLD. One of my male friends is a war hero and one of my heros, war is something that is normally assicated with men so when researching how to combine my male relatioship with textiles and dress i found it chalenging but i thought it was poient to have the male names on such a female item. When researching love and war i found wear your heart on your sleve comes for men at war stiching their female lover names into their uniform and historically knights use to wear their ladys colours on their sleves.

Asessment Two

(Inital images refrence video a few posts down FLAT PACKED LOVE)

I am going to start by discussing my initial experimental piece after the last assessment;
The piece relates to today’s society and the idea of our flat packed disposable world (Ikea)
I wanted to explore the 2D and 3D aspects of the work – 2D heart in photographs 3D in video

Flat emotionless heart is given more meaning by adding personal tags

This next image is of the video projected ontop of a large scale tag, i am fasinated by the relationship of the 2D and 3D notion of the item.

-From doing this experiment concentrating on the 2D and 3D relationship of the work  I then started to consider my textiles work as a 3D.
-This piece is 2D- I have just used the stitch as a way of drawing on the fabric.
-I think it is conceptual resolved but there is something missing...
